Application of Valirex Li 2% Neo D60 co-catalyst in PU synthesis

The lithium catalyst Valirex Li 2% Neo D60 from USMB of Belgium can significantly enhance catalytic activity when used in combination with Bi 2010 (20% Bi) in PU synthesis (in a ratio of approximately Li:Bi = 1:1 to 3:1).

Structural and spectroscopic experiments show that a Bi–Li bimetallic complex spontaneously forms in the solution. This complex can simultaneously capture –NCO and –OH, bringing them closer together and reducing reaction barriers, thereby improving the reaction rate and stability.

These Bi–Li complexes exhibit dynamic behavior and can more effectively activate isocyanates and polyols compared to single Bi salts. They also have a curing speed close to that of tin metal and possess advantages such as low toxicity and environmental friendliness.
